2019-2020 Program Budget

This program budget for the ATAYAL organization consists of the expenses associated with all associated programs for the 2019-2020 campaign. This does not include the expenses required for the operations of the organization. The figures below are in USD. The total Program Budget for the 2019-2020 campaign is $65,470.00.

Indigenous Cultural Exchange Programs (Subtotal: $52,470.00)
  • Tribal Journeys Indigenous Youth Exchange Program ($33,140) - Taiwanese Indigenous Youth Delegation visit to Washington State/British Columbia, WA, to participate in the Journey to Nanaimo.
    1. $18,200 - Roundtrip airfare for 14 people between Taiwan and Seattle, WA
    2. $5,500 - Transportation. This budget will cover the rental of a car and a van for the duration of the "Journey," gas expenses and ferry fees.
    3. $5,040 - Accommodations. Although the host family and tribal peoples will provide some accommodations during the event, a budget is needed to provide accommodations for the delegation upon arrival and upon completion of our "Journey." Budget based on 6 nights for 6 rooms per $140 per room per night.
    4. $2,800 - Meals. Although the host family and tribal peoples will provide some meals during the event, a budget is needed to provide meals for the delegation that are not provided by the hosts of the "Journey."
    5. $600 - Thank You Gifts for Hosts and Canoe Family. Wood carvings will be obtained from an indigenous artist to provide as a cultural exchange gift.
    6. $1,000 - Administrative fees for organizational work, translation, postage, etc.
  • Nisqually visit to Taiwan ($16,500) - The Nisqually Tribe of Washington State (USA) has agreed for a reciprocal visit to Taiwan with the Tao Tribe being their hosts on Orchid Island. This delegation will be led by Hanford McCloud, and will have a total of 6 people. There may be a few other people joining this delegation, which may require this budget to be adjusted.
    1. $6,000 - Round trip airfare for 6 people on Eva Airways.
    2. $2,100 - Transportation. Includes buses, trains and ferries or airfare to Orchid Island.
    3. $4,000 - Accommodations for 13 nights. Based on 3 rooms per $100 per room per night
    4. $1,500 - Meals for 14 days. Based on 3 meals per day and $6 per meal
    5. $1,500 - Bilingual tour guide
    6. $400 - Gift for indigenous hosts
    7. $1,000 - Administrative fees for organizational work, translation, postage, etc.
  • Tao Tatala (Canoe) Project ($2,830.00) - We are working with Sirman (Akai) to acquire a traditional Tao Tatala Canoe to be used in the Annual Tribal Canoe Journeys in the Pacific Northwest (USA and Canada). This may be a 2-year project.
    1. $1,700.00 - Round trip airfare for 1 person on Eva Airways.
    2. $840.00 - Accommodations for 6 nights. Based on 1 room per $140 per room per night
    3. $240.00 - Meals for 10 days. Based on 3 meals per day and $8 per meal
    4. $50.00 - Gas for meetings
Indigenous Education Exchange Programs (Subtotal: $8,000.00)
  • International Indigenous Teachers Exchange Program (IITEP) ($5,500) - The International Indigenous Teachers Exchange Program, which is run by Chad Yen, was launched in the Summer of 2019, with a Native American teaching candidate being hosted by our partner organization, Global Link Up for Education (GLUE).
  • International Indigenous Lecture Series ($2,500) - Indigenous lectures are given every year to students, and this budget covers transportation and any related expenses.
Indigenous Media Exchange Programs (Subtotal: $5,000.00)
  • Cultural Media Events ($5,000) - Indigenous Media Exchange Director Gerald A. Santos is organizing indigenous culture sharing events in California, which will take place in 2020. They will raise the profile of our programs and help with recruitment and fundraising.
