2019 Organization Financials



As of July 2020, the ATAYAL organization filed its required tax filings, filed its annual reports in Florida and Washington State and filed its 2020 Solicitations Registration in the State of Florida. ATAYAL filed its IRS 2019 Form 990-N e-postcard online and completed its 2019 Form 990 EZ and supporting documents, uploading them for public viewing on Guidestar.org.

The 2019 Internal Revenue Service Tax Filings included:

The revenues from donations and grants from 2019 totaled $8,040.00.
(Donations totaled $3,040 and the org received a grant for $5,000.00.)
The total expenses (operations and programs) were $2,901.80.
The opening bank balance at the beginning of 2019 was $117.61.
The closing bank balance at the end of 2019 was $5,255.81.

In 2019, the organization had Operational Expenses of $974.41 and Program Expenses of $1,927.39.

Cultural Lectures and Research in Taiwan: $455.13
1) Travel (train tickets, gas, parking fees) - $56.78

3) Annual Meeting/Wrap Party - $318.32 (Food $178.54, Supplies $46.23, Transportation $93.55)

Tribal Journeys Indigenous Youth Exchange in the USA: $1,472.26
1) Travel - $77.42 (Train and bus tickets in Taiwan to/from airport)
2) Transportation - $1,218.95 (Car rental $1,057.56, Gas $140.98, Parking $20.41)
3) Meals - $175.89

Conclusion

We received our first USA grant award, which was $5,000 from the Nisqually Indian Tribe. This money will be applied to future cultural exchange with this tribe. Our $3,040 raised from donations was short of our goal for our programs, so most of the program expenses were covered personally by the organizers, participants, and volunteers.

Organization and Program Profile

ORGANIZATION The ATAYAL Organization is a registered American 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (IRS EID: 59-3719572). It was founded in the State of Florida in 2001 with its core mission to preserve Indigenous language and culture through activities that raise public awareness of and appreciation for Indigenous Heritage and Wisdom. The organization is led by a Board and Leadership Team that has a substantial representation by women and minorities, especially from Indigenous peoples. The organization's International Advisory Committee is a Who's Who of leaders in their respective fields all committed to leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. ATAYAL is currently registered in Florida, Washington State, and Hawai'i, with a satellite office in Taipei, Taiwan. 2023 Annual Report

  We had the pleasure of introducing the Taloma Youth Group with the Yakan Tribe on Palawan The Year of 2023 was one of our busiest ever, with multiple exchange activities, as well as expanded development of relationships for the Indigenous Bridges Youth Ambassador Program (IBYAP). We also made key strategic decisions for the development of the IBYAP program, including the opening of our Hawai'i office in Maui and adding our Regional Director of Hawai'i, Leiven Hwang. Having three pillars for the program (Washington State/Hawai'i/Taiwan) creates a framework for exchange and cooperation between Austronesian communities, and likewise, we have the ability to introduce the beautiful cultures and timeless wisdom of the Austronesian peoples to American people. This year, we dove into various activities and upgraded our program as well.
