ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE ATAYAL ORGANIZATION


The 2022 Annual General Meeting of the Board of Directors of the ATAYAL Organization was held on Saturday, November 12, 2022  at the English Library in Taipei, and it was also broadcast online via Google Meets.

According to the the Quorum defined in our previous By-laws, we had at least two of our Board Members in attendance. During this meeting, we shared 2022 achievements and discussed the 10-Year Vision for the organization.

2) Shu-min Coolidge, Treasurer

3) Gary Smoke, Vice President and acting Deputy Director

There were about 25 additional guests in attendance.

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS

The meeting began with the introduction of our special guests. Upon the conclusion of the meeting, Si "Howard" Mateneng, our organization's Indigenous Bridges Youth Ambassador from the Tao Peoples, gave an excellent presentation on the traditional culture of the Tao Peoples on Orchid Island. Sayun "Jessica" Lin, of the Atayal Peoples, gave a presentation of her culture work in Wulai District. She shared a project that was created to revitalize traditional weaving techniques.


DECLARATION OF QUORUM ACCORDING TO BY-LAWS

The current Quorum was as follows. The presence, in person of at least 2 of the current members of the Board of Directors, which include the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, shall be necessary at any meeting to constitute a quorum to transact business, but a lesser number shall have power to adjourn to a specified later date without notice. The act of a majority of the members of the Board of Directors present at a meeting at which a quorum is present shall be the act of the Board of Directors, unless the act of a greater number is required by law or by these By-Laws.


REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT WITH REFERENCE TO THE ANNUAL REPORT

Board President Tony Coolidge shared his thoughts on the Annual Report and summarized the future (10-year) plans of the organization by sharing the Vision For The FutureThe 2022 activities included the Virtual Culture Exchange Event in July 2022 with Edu-Odyssey and Texas State University, paying a speaking fee for Syaman Lamuran, paying for scholarships for two of our Indigenous Bridges Youth Ambassadors, buying a new computer for our Taipei office, purchasing equipment to expand our video production capacity, and conducting Indigenous/Austronesian Cultural lectures at National Taiwan Normal University and National Chengchi University. There have also been cultural exhibits in the USA.


REPORT FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT WITH REFERENCE TO THE ANNUAL REPORT

Board Vice President Gary Smoke shared his thoughts on the Annual Report and Vision For The Future.

All members in the Meeting had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the information shared by the President and Vice President.


REPORT FROM THE TREASURER

The Treasurer referred attendees to the 2021 Financial Statement online. The 2022 Financial Statement is not yet complete and will be available within 2 months. New income and expenditures were related to the 2022 activities, which included the Virtual Culture Exchange Event in July 2022 with Edu-Odyssey and Texas State University. We paid a speaking fee for Syaman Lamuran, paid for scholarships (NT10,000) for two of our Indigenous Bridges Youth Ambassadors, bought a new computer (NT58,000) for our Taipei office, purchased equipment to expand our video production capacity, and conducted Indigenous/ Austronesian Cultural lectures at National Taiwan Normal University and National Chengchi University.

Our expenses so far in 2022 have been USD $4,269.20, while our donation income has been USD $3,308.91


ELECTION OR CONFIRMATION OF BOARD MEMBERS

Viewed the Organizational Chart and discussed the confirmation of existing Board members and the election of new ones. Discuss the current needs to fill the Board and Board Officer positions.

Phreddie Lane did not complete the process of becoming a Board member.
